On February 10, Fan Bo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Committee, met with a delegation led by Thamer Al-Sharhan, Global Executive Vice President and China Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power, in Suzhou. Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL Group, attended the meeting as a long-term strategic partner of ACWA Power in China.

The meeting not only demonstrated Suzhou’s firm commitment to expanding high-level opening-up and creating a first-class business environment but also injected fresh confidence into the long-established transnational green energy cooperation in the city. During the talks, Fan Bo fully acknowledged ACWA Power’s forward-looking decision to establish its China operational headquarters in Suzhou and expressed anticipation for deeper cooperation in green energy, technological innovation, and other fields. Thamer Al-Sharhan reaffirmed the company’s determination to deepen its presence in Suzhou and expand its layout, stating that ACWA Power would continue to broaden its business operations and further enhance cooperation with Suzhou’s industrial and supply chains.

The exchange and collaboration between GCL and ACWA Power have a long history. As early as June 2025, the two parties signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement in Suzhou covering wind power, photovoltaics, energy storage, pumped hydro storage, integrated generation-grid-load-storage systems, and other areas, aiming to jointly build an internationally influential green energy industry hub. Zhu Gongshan’s participation in this meeting reflects the continuity and elevation of this close partnership, highlighting GCL’s role not only as a core participant in Suzhou’s new energy industry innovation cluster but also as a vital bridge connecting the Chinese market with global green capital and advanced technologies.

In line with the national strategic direction of developing green new quality productive forces during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, GCL will leverage its robust technological expertise in granular silicon, perovskite, energy storage, and digital energy to collaborate with international partners such as ACWA Power. Together, they will actively contribute to the green and low-carbon transformation of Suzhou and the broader Yangtze River Delta region. Through deepened open innovation alliances integrating "technology, capital, and market," a more resilient new energy system will be established, infusing strong "GCL momentum" into China’s proactive response to climate change.
